Rolling back iPhone 13 update to improve performance

I recently updated my iPhone 13 Pro Max and of course since my phone is “older” it is randomly slower and lags after the update. I’m simply not going to buy a new phone so is there anyway I can roll back an update? This same thing happened on my iPhone X and now I’m noticing a pattern with these updates whenever a new iPhone comes out, seems like it’s intentional. Thanks for the help.

There's no way to rollback your iPhone's iOS. If your iPhone weren't capable of running the update you wouldn't get it, so something else may be wrong. First try a Forced Restart after the update.

  • Press and quickly release the Volume Up Button
  • Press and quickly release the Volume Down Button
  • Press and hold the Side Button until you see the Apple Logo (Can take up to 30 sec, hold past the Power Off slider)

Then go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and Charging, what percent is displayed? An aging battery can cause lag.

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Check to make sure you have a few GB of free storage available.

It’s absolutely normal for all iPhones to slow down for approximately 24 to 72 hours at an update. Data has to sync and be indexed. If Apple Intelligence is enabled additional processes are temporarily running in the background. This typically happens at night be if the iPhone is turned off or disconnected from WiFi, it may occur while attempting to use the device.
