Is anyone else finding the iPhone 17 pro max scratches SUPER easily?

I’ve only had my new iPhone 17 Pro Max for a day, and my screen is completely covered in scratches.

I remember reading clearly “3X scratch resistance” in the marketing, and I was as careful as I could be before putting a protector on it, but there are loads of tiny micro-scratches on it, and some bigger gashes have appeared already.

Is anyone else finding this?

iPhone 17 Pro Max, iOS 26

Hard to say exactly what caused it. I kept it in a separate pocket to anything else I was carrying around.

My previous iPhone was an iPhone 13, never used a screen protector with it, and I think it was a few weeks until it had gotten as bad as this one is already.

I thought I would have a bit more slack with the “3X scratch resistance”, but apparently not.

Wondering what to do with it now, whether it’s worth replacing the screen and slapping the protector on immediately, or if I just need to suck it up - but it’s painful that it happened so soon! 🥲

Carrying a phone in your pocket subjects it to micro grains of sand you can't see, but the movement of you walking with a phone up against anything like that can certainly cause scratches. Since cosmetic damage is not covered by iPhone Warranty, put a good quality screen protector on now, which will likely hide any micro scratches you've gotten and prevent future scratches.
