Safari won’t let me close single tabs

I was messing with my settings in class because I was bored and a few hours later I was unable to close a tab in safari. I am unsure if that was the cause considering that was the last time I used it.

I am able to close the whole application and I am able to use the red X in the corner to close the whole window but I am unable to close a singular tab. I have to use two fingers to tap to open a pop-up menu then manually press close tab. I have tried restarting my computer fully and force closing the application but nothing works.
