Calendar search not working after iOS 26 update on my iPhone 16

the only way it worked for me is by first switching off the search function in settings as instructed above. Then HARD RESTART your iPhone (if you don’t know how to do this find out in apple help pages).

then after the hard restart you need to switch the search settings back on.

the instructions by 6x6 are in two posts and not in order. I can see where everyone is getting confused

Just updated to iOS 26.0.1. It has fixed my Calendar search issue.

With IOS 26.0 is stopped working for me, with 26.0.1 it worked and with 26.1 it stopped working on IOS, iPadOS and MacOS.

Very annoying.

Turning iCloud sync off/on to rebuild calender+index did not help.

Rebuilding the indices via spotlight on MacOS did not help.

In the meantime I am using the app "Calsearch" on all 3 platforms and that works without any problem.

Try to force restart the iPhone instead of a simple restart in the above procedure.

Just downloaded and installed calsearch and all my VA appointments can now be searched - for years back or in future - something iOS search can’t do.

Go to Settings > Apps > Calendar > Search, turn off the 2 settings there, reboot your device and turn those settings back on. Wait a few minutes for the search index to rebuild.

Agreed. Do NOT upgrade to os26 on any devices if you want calendar search to work.

Calendar search does not work on my iPhone 17 or my iPad M5, both running 26.1. I've tried the suggested fixes, turning on/off search in app and restarting devices, to no avail. I rely heavily on calendar searches; please Apple fix this problem ASAP!

Apple just got it fixed and then it’s broke again with very next update.

Same here. It was ok with iOS 26.0.1. After I updated to 26.1, the Calendar search is not working again! 🙄
