Face ID no longer working

For whatever reason, the Face ID on my iPhone stopped working. I thought I could just go to settings and turn it off or at the very least, resort to always use my pin whenever FaceTime fails. No. Apparently the pin doesn’t always show up (I.e, with password lookups). Furthermore, in order to turn off certain security features, I’ll need to first turn off the “Find my,” and the “stolen theft prevention.”

Guess what those require you to have? Your Face ID… with no pin failsafe. I go to the Apple Store and basically get told I need to restore it to factory settings…. But guess what (I learned as I was already home), Face ID is required to reset your iPhone.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
