How can i downgrade from ios 26 to 18

I recently updated to iOS 26 and this version is terrible for me. My battery now drains about 3-4x faster than before, and even after several days (so it shouldn’t be indexing anymore), the phone still overheats just from browsing or watching YouTube.

I’d love to go back to iOS 18 but I don’t have a backup from that version on my Mac (otherwise I’d just restore from there). I came across tutorials online mentioning ipsw.me, but I’m not sure if that site is legit or safe to use.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to downgrade safely in this situation? Or is it simply impossible now without a proper backup?

Thanks in advance!

Apple does not support iOS downgrades. You cannot go back to 18.6.2. Have you tried restarting your phone?

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the side button.

Carol B. Thanks, after a few restarts I noticed an improvement. The iPhone no longer heats up so much and doesn't drain the battery like crazy. However, it still has its moments, I noticed. I hope it will be optimized soon.

Three months testing by volunteers and feedback has gotten the iOS optimised pretty well. Wait a few days.
