Has anyone found a way to keep desktop icons in place in Sequoia 15.6.1?

OK try ths way:

go to view desktop and sort by none

place icons along the left, right and top of the screen spaced in a way you like.

To adjust the icons to be orderly you need to go to the view option in finder "show view options".

By adjusting the grid spacing and icon size should give you a look at what you would like it to look like

Then I would clean up selection and either leave it or choose snap to grid

Once the grid is set you can move the icons where you wish

I agree it's a nuisance that still gives me problems, though this recipe has worked most of the time:

• click on blank area of desktop and select all (command A)

• I then click the view menu and sort by None

• then move your items to where you want them

• then select all and click the view menu and choose "snap to grid" if you want this option where you will have to play with grid spacing or skip this item

• After selecting all click on view menu and "clean up"

•click anywhere on blank area of desktop to get back to a desktop where all the items are not selected.
