Why doesn’t Siri and Apple Translate support Swedish (and other Scandinavian languages) yet?

Hello,

I’m a native Spanish speaker and very fluent in English, currently living in Sweden. I use Safari and Siri daily, and one of my biggest frustrations is that Apple Translate and Siri still don’t support translations to/from Swedish or other Scandinavian languages (like Norwegian, Danish, Finnish).

For example:

  • In Safari, I’d love to translate words or whole pages between English and Swedish without relying on external add-ons.
  • With Siri, I’d like to simply ask: “How do you say [word] in Swedish?” — but Siri can’t handle this.

It’s surprising that by 2025, with macOS 15.7 and now macOS Tahoe introducing Apple Intelligence, Scandinavian languages are still missing from Apple’s translation and live features (am I wrong??). This also limits future devices like AirPods Pro 3, which could be extremely useful for live conversations here in Sweden.

This feature would be a huge help not only for people learning the language but also for daily life in Scandinavian countries.

Are there any plans for Apple to add Swedish (and other Nordic languages) to Apple Translate, Siri, Safari, and Live Translation features?

Why questions cannot be answered because you are not speaking to Apple here. What Apple does provide is the list of supported languages for any of the features. Clearly not every language is included in every feature and expected dates of future language support is not available until it has been announced by Apple.

You did the only thing you can do by sending feedback to Apple.
