Phone won’t transfer to 17

Trying to transfer 12 pro(256GB)to 17 pro (1TB). Tried side by side received message data couldn’t transfer. Attempting to transfer via iCloud backup. Said I needed additional iCloud space. Purchased additional 2TB for 9.99. Phone has been backing up for hours, still only at 46%. Please help

Wait 5 hours is all you can do.

You have a lot of data stored on the phone. I have 64GB phone and a lot of sync’d cloud storage. Backup takes minutes.

If you now choose a 1TB iphone I have no idea how backing that up over WiFi is even sensible.

Make sure your wifi has the best connection if you have a choice of 5GHz
