macOS Sequoia 15.6.1 to 15.7 but update stuck in Tahoe download loop

Running MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1. Want to update to 15,7. Should be straightforward. Really, it SHOULD bE.

The download is supposed to be 2.1 gig.

But somehow Apple has decided to download a much larger file. I cancelled the download, rebooted, tried to restart the update but it selects Tahoe which I do not want. I switch to 15.7 and resume, it switched back to Tahoe.

How do I get out of this mess?

Eventually. When I took a deep breath and poked around I did that. Wasn't obvious that clicking on the other updates choice without getting to the detail selection screen would continue the Tahoe update.

Anyway, I got 15.7 installed, even avoided the Safari 26 update although I thought I left that selected. I don't generally get rattled by updates, somehow I pushed this one off the rails.

Thanks for the response.
