iOS 26 limits FaceTime zoom to 4x on iPhone 17 Pro Max

Previous versions of iOs allowed me to use my old iPhone 15 Pro Max to zoom in up to 15x without issue in a video call. iOS 26 on the iPhone 17 Pro Max now limits this to 4x zoom. I suspect this is because for some reason, the other cameras are not toggled to during a FaceTime call.

why has iOS 26 done this? It worked perfectly fine before, why can I not use the zoom functionality on FaceTime to the fullest extent?
