usb keyboard only works with usb hub as an inbetween

no usbc to usbc cables work consistently (worked fine last before the new ios update) but does work with a usbc media hub whether i use usbc or usba. the inconsistancy of external keyboards feels so intentional at this point its like every other ios update it breaks. every setting is correct and the official apple post on how to enable external keyboards from 4 days ago doesn't even show an accurate menu. there is no external devices tab in security, apple. ur so bad at explaining how ur devices work.

gross and pathetic.

If you want to pin this down, I’d suggest a couple of steps:

  • Try restarting the iPhone with the keyboard already plugged in—this can sometimes force iOS to “trust” the device at boot. Second, head into Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessories, and make sure “Allow New Accessories” is toggled on.
  • Alternately, keep using a powered hub in the meantime—it’s not ideal, but it bypasses both the power draw limitations and some of the trust prompts.
