2024 iMac m4 desktop makes a high pitch squeak during shutdown

If you can't fix the problem you have 14 days from the date of purchase to take it back for a full refund no questions asked.

Not sure it the 14 days start at the date of purchase or when it was delivered. You can call Customer Support and ask them.

Also try booting How to use safe mode on your Mac and shutting down from there'. If there's no problem reboot normally and shut down again.

Note:  if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode.  This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will assure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Pretty much the only moving parts inside the case are the fans. They run all the time but are nearly silent at idle speed. They should not squeak as they slow to a stop.

First place to check is:

• System Settings
• Sound (look in sidebar)and research the problem.
