Trying to do this myself and not working. It will not recognize the log-in password which is what I'm using on my MBPro. I keep getting locked out. That's as far as I have gotten with my setup. Should I wipe everything (not much) out and start over. I must have given it the incorrect password in setup.
If you have forgotten your Mac login passcode; after trying three attempts, you should find an option to reset your passcode with your Apple Account.
From there, you simply follow the prompts and your Mac should simply restart like normal.
NOTE: You may need to sign back into iCloud and other services after the successful login.
