Palm Rejection not working after the new iPadOS 26

After updating my iPad Air 5 to the latest iPadOS 26, the palm rejection is broken. When I try to write something(with my palm on the screen), it draws some random horizontal/vertical lines. Before, there was no problem like this, but now I can only write with my hand lifted, so the only thing that will have contact with the screen is my Apple Pencil. Do you have any solutions for this problem?

My Fix: Disable Zoom (turn it off) in Accessibility Settings, this can correct Palm Rejection issue.

iPad 13(M2), Apple Pencil Pro, OS26.

problem: Palm Rejection just quit working.

I had the same problems described in comments below, unable to draw anything without getting vertical and horizontal messy lines, occurring in several apps; this was not workable and terribly frustrating.

I tried the current wisdom about forced restarts, Bluetooth forget, then reconnect, blah blah. Nothing of this type had any impact on my “palm rejection is not happening” issue.

The Fix above came from a 2016 YouTube video. It was so easy to turn Zoom off. Amazingly, my palm rejection problem vanished immediately.

Perhaps this might help someone else.

Actually, I just tried taking the pencil tip off and screwing it back on. So far that seems to have resolved the issue. I've only tested it for 5 minutes since, but you might want to give it a try and see if that solves it for you. Still not sure why it would only happen after this latest update though. If it happens again I'll update.

I am experiencing the same issue with my M2 iPad Air and Apple Pencil Pro. I'm a little relieved to know that someone else is in the same situation, because when I contacted Apple Support previously, they told me there were no reports of this problem.

I have tried initializing the iPad, re-pairing the Pencil, and re-attaching the tip, but the symptom has not improved at all. Since the same issue occurs in both the native Notes app and Goodnotes, I am certain that this is not an app-specific bug.

(I am using a translator because I cannot speak English. I apologize if any part of this sounds unnatural.)

Yeah I took the pencil tip off and screwed it back on, and I thought that solved it, but it started happening again shortly after. I saw a couple videos from years ago of people having the same problem. One said they solved it by plugging the ipad in, and another said they had to ground themselves with something metal - according to both it had something to do with static electricity interfering with how the pencil and screen communicate or something. In any case, neither of those solutions worked for me, and even if they did I don't want to have to ground myself or keep my ipad plugged in everytime I draw. The only other thing I can think of is that I have a textured screen protector on, but I don't see why that would suddenly be a problem after updating and not before.

I'm having the same issue with my 4th generation 12.9 inch ipad pro. For me, it seems to happen when applying pressure and drawing slowly, and then lightening the pressure as I'm drawing the line. Tried in both Procreate and Clip Studio Paint, and this seems to happen even when I have a glove on. Never had this issue before the update. I illustrate professionally, and this is really getting in the way of getting any work done.

I am having the same thing happen to me with my iPad mini 6 in Goodnotes and the Apple Notes app in a specific use case.

When I have the tablet in landscape and I have the display in windowed mode and then put the notes app in a window so it is not covering the whole screen and then use the pen to take notes I start to see issues.

The same is not happening when I try this in portrait mode with a window though.
