Volume "xxx", The memory card may not be supported.

I have a partisioned volume on my MacBook Pro. Since upgrading to Tahoe, getting the following occasional message: "Volume "xxx", The memory card may not be supported." Only restarting gets rid of the message.

This is a partisioned volume, not a memory card.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 26.0

When you partition the internal SSD, MacOS calls it a Volume.

Sorry no. It still has the option to partition, but the preferred option when using the APFS file system is to create a new volume.

Please run the following command in the Terminal app so we can see its output of the disk layout for your internal SSD:

diskutil list internal

It may also help to have a screenshot of the Disk Utility app where you have your "ECB Raw Pictures" volume selected.

Changed the name but it reappeared again.

Did you change the name to remove any type of camera or picture references (including "raw")?

Restarting removes the message but it reappears later.

When exactly does it reappear?

How about creating a new APFS volume with a name that is not associated with cameras or pictures in any way. Copy your files over to the new APFS volume, then delete the old APFS volume.

I'm also wondering if you may have something stored on your APFS volume that may somehow be causing an issue.

Not clear on what you are saying here— Partitions or Volumes?

Maybe post a screenshot to represent the issue. From the Terminal app copy & paste:

diskutil list internal

ref: you can add or delete Volumes without penalty in the APFS

Add, delete, or erase APFS volumes in Disk Utility on Mac

Not advised to Partition the drive unless necessary & well informed for good reason..

ref: Partition a physical disk in Disk Utility on Mac

Volume "xxx", The memory card may not be supported.
