After MacOS26 upgrade Music does not remember saved state and AirPlay issue

Since upgrading, Music does not remember the previous window size I chose and opens to the default. It also will not play to the listed Airplay Devices (HomePods) until I uncheck each one and recheck them. I removed the saved state file so Music would make a new one. It opened to the correct window size, yay. Then, today, it didn't. Default window again. Very frustrating.

A quirk: if I click a track in a playlist, it plays from the beginning of the album, not the track I clicked. Ugh.

I am also experiencing the HomePod issue. When I set the output in Apple Music to the selected HomePod (on iMac M1, MacBook Pro M4, iPad Pro M1, or iPhone 16 Pro), it plays from the device, not the HomePod, even though the HomePod is set as the target output in AirPlay. I have to select the device again in the list of outputs and then re-select the HomePod. It then plays. Incredibly annoying.

I have reset everything (including router), updated everything etc. Still happening.

Honestly, what with this and the myriad other little glitches and errors in Tahoe and iOS26, I am more than a little irritated and disillusioned. I mean, do they actually rigorous test these things? In recent years Apple seems far more focused on aesthetics than function and it is starting to show.
