I can create a keyboard shortcut using the system prefs. But it doesnt work after you launch FCP, until you open the menu at least once. I assume it needs to load or something which is really annoying.
Anyone have a better way? Im using the latest version of macOS and FCP.
1) Please do follow terryb's advice and learn about FCP Command Editor.
2) Some commands may not be available through the Command Editor, in which case you can use the method you describe, via System Settings.
Can you tell us one example of command for which you added a shortcut?
I would like to test.
I have just added a few shortcuts using System Settings, and they worked instantly, but maybe it does not work for some others.
