Swipe to Unlock on kiosk mode - iOS 26

Hi everyone,

We are having a very serious issue with our kiosk devices. We have updated them to iOS 26 once the update was released. What happens is as the following:

We have configured our kiosk devices on managed iPads (Managed by Intune) . The screen will turn off to save power after 15 minutes. Once we touch the screen the Swipe to unlock comes up, but when we swipe up the "No Older Notifications" is showing and the screen will not be unlocked. No white bar is showing at the bottom of the swipe to unlock window.

We did not have this issue with older iOS versions.

We can also mention here that the iOS 26 is behaving strange once the screen is awake from sleep. After some retries it might show the white bar at the bottom of the swipe to unlock screen and after unlock successfully, but this might take several minutes.

Please if you can give any advice,

Thanks

Erimal

Apple invites submission of comments and bug reports via its Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

When submitting your report, ensure that you include your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS within the body of your report. Don't rely upon the pick-list - as this rarely includes the most recent models and versions.

Every Bug Report counts. Unless reports are submitted (with adequate detail) and sufficient number, Apple may not assign resources to investigate and correct the issue.

Otherwise, you might consider seeking assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Found another way, it seems to be only when there is no passcode - but if you swipe downwards, you can access the Search bar, which if you type the name of the App that is locked to Single-App mode, then you can get back into the app. Not found any other way as of yet, which is really annoying me!

Hopefully this might help a few people.

Can confirm.

We use an iPad that is locked in a wall mounted case as our "music" iPad. The iPad is using Guided Access Mode to keep it in our music app (the Sonos Music app in this instance).

While locked in this case, only the main screen is available to users - none of the physical buttons can be used. (not without unlocking the secure case using a key and removing the font panel)

Before the update, users could go up to the iPad, tap the screen to wake the iPad up, then swipe up to unlock it...then pick what music they want to play in the office.

After the iOS 26 update, we can still tap the screen to wake the iPad up, but when you swipe from the bottom of the screen, all we see is "No Older Notifications" displayed, and regular users can't unlock or use the iPad.

I've been forced to completely turn off any "screen sleep" or "screen lock" settings in order to keep the iPad usable for regular staff. This isn't ideal as it's my understanding this could reduce the life of the iPad screen - not to mention the extra power it's consuming.

How can we re-enable the "swipe up to unlock" feature on the iPad lock screen?
