Locked Apple Card after Citizens app subscription cancellation

Greetings,

Upon cancelling my Citizens app subscription I noticed it still tried to take out of my account. I have screenshots and the supports word it’s cancelled, but still taking out. Therefore, I called support then got transferred to a Green dot specialist (Call + on hold for 40+ minutes). After waiting, The Green dot support agent told me “I’ve locked your account, you won’t be able to use it.” I was highly confused…. highly…. and I told them I just wanted a subscription blocked… The specialist then told me There’s nothing she can do… 😐 I submitted my id and changed my password but they tell me there’s still nothing they can do …… i’m so lost

You are probably in the process of being de-banked. Banks often refer to it as de-risking. De-banking is the closure of people's or organizations' bank accounts by banks that perceive the account holders to pose a financial, legal, regulatory, or reputational risk to the bank.

Banks typically are prohibited by federal banking regulations from revealing the reasons for the locking of the account. Customer support personnel do not know the reason(s) for the locking. Federal banking regulations (Bank Secrecy Act/1979 and Patriot Act/2001) prevent banks from disclosing the reasons.

What and see what happens. It may be months before much happens. The current administration has basically dismantled CFPB and what used to take a day or two now takes months. For example a friend filed a complaint and it took 6 months for CFPB to acknowledge receipt where previously it was 7 to 10 days. I wish you the best. If I can answer any other questions, please don’t hesitate.
