Can't drag music files into iTunes after Windows 11 Update 2025 [SOLVED]

Hi folks,

Today while trying to add some music to libraries in iTunes it was just showing my cursor as a red circle with a line going through it.

Did a bit of digging online and found others with the same problem. One user was able to nail down the root cause, which was an update somewhere around February of this year on Windows 11(not sure if it applies to 10 as well), presumably related to security as the user had other programs running into the same issue, so it likely isn't inherently an iTunes problem. After he restored to an earlier version it worked properly again. Unfortunately, none of the posts I could find online had any sort of solution for this so I started poking around myself. I did in fact find a (somewhat annoying) solution.

Basically, I went file > add file to library after putting the file into the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder which has the following path on my own storage drive - E:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes, and then manually selected the file to be added. I don't believe this specific folder is necessary to use, should work from anywhere, but including the info just in case because I haven't tested anywhere else.

Anyway, I hope this will help anyone else who runs into the same issue and can't figure it out.

Windows, Windows 10
