How to remove large Recently Saved squares from macOS 26 Tahoe Bookmarks menu?

It appears to me there are only tiles for things that are saved to my Reading List. I deleted them by clicking the left arrow that is to the left of the Bookmarks heading, went to my Reading List, and deleted everything. No more tiles show. When I add a bookmark no new tiles appear, at least if I file it away in a folder.

Now I see what your two are referring to. Clicking the > next to "Recently Saved" will hide them.

You can always use a different browser. There are many alternatives.

After checking with Apple support we cannot at this time delete it or the new recent section. Its someone's idea of a good idea which is not working at least for me.

I am rarely seeing the big Recently Saved item in my sidebar.

When I add a new bookmark, I am saving it directly to a folder where I can find it again, somewhere in my favorites bookmarks folder. And when I quit Safari, a subfolder of Favorites is selected in the sidebar. My sidebar is always coming up with the search field and the Favorites folder on top and the silly large recently saved items hidden below the upper border, perhaps because I have arranged the sidebar with the option "folders on top".

I am having thousands of bookmarks, so it is very important for me to have the search field on top of the sidebar.

Took me a minute. I never use Safari so I had to play with it to figure out what was being talked about. Clicking the carrot only shrinks the icon temporarily.

Select the relevant bookmark - Control, right click and choose delete from the drop down list

That shows them. It doesn't hide them. It's an iOS-style navigation interface.

Personally, I never use the Safari sidebar. The "recently added" blocks at the top don't bother me. All the other blocks down at the bottom that flicker definitely bothers me. Not going to open that sidebar again. That's a useless display.

Rarely. If I do, I used the "Edit bookmarks" feature. That takes over the whole page.

But I never ever use that Safari sidebar. Total waste of a toolbar button. I can't even remove it with Customize Toolbar.

The question isn't how to remove a bookmark. The OP doesn't want the large square displayed.

The issue is when you close out Safari the list of favorites is collapsed so the next time you open Safari you need to click on the favorites to expand and show the bookmarks again. Not a real big deal but annoying non the less.

Now when you save a website to Favorites after Tahoe 26.0 update, it saves as a BIG thumbnail and also adds to my Favorites ( Two Places). If I do Control, Right Click and deletes it deletes the Big Squires, it deletes both. I just want to delete Big Squires. Can someone figure out "How to delete Big Squires only) ?

Is there a particular application involved here (?) You do not name it.

You probably do not have any recently (whatever that time frame means) added bookmarks to show that in the sidebar. By default when you update to Tahoe the recently added was just the reading list items if you had any. If not then that folder would be empty and not show in the sidebar.
