How do I get a version of QT which features sound settings?

I use an old MacBook Air, OS Monterey (12.7.6). How and where do I get a working version of QuickTime that features Show Movie Properties, with the option to choose and switch sound channels?

Currently, I have QT 10.5, which does not feature I sound settings, but I desperately need this for my work.

Anyone?

  1. Your version of QuickTime Player is tied to the version macOS. You can’t run a different version QTP than the bundled one on a given version macOS.
  2. The Movie Properties window lists select properties, but is not meant for choosing options. Reading only.

… with the option to choose and switch sound channels?

Audio channels can refer to speakers placement, like left, right, center, surround left and right, in “5.1”.

If you meant to select a different audio track, like commentary or language, then “channels” is a confusing word.

To select a different language, use the Language option in the View menu.

If a QuickTime movie contains multiple audio tracks and those are untagged or tagged for the same language, then it can be that only one of them will be presented in the GUI.

If the way that QuickTime Player functions and behaves doesn’t match your playback requirements, then please try third party player apps, e.g. VLC or IINA. Likely those will do what you seek.
