Which iPhone do you have? Live translation requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. It would be helpful if you provide more detail such as

i have the iphone 15 pro max , i spoke with apple support and they explained what it does ! its only translation for text message, video chats and phone calls which if u have the ios 26 ur phone does it regardless of airpods or not
