Persistent Circle Using Pencil in Notes

OK so with all the things going on in the world, this one does not merit much if any, attention but it does drive me a bit nuts. It relates to using Notes on the Apple Pencil Pro with the latest iPad Air. See that little circle on the Left? I don't know what it's doing there and as my writing approaches it, it jumps down a bit. I find it distracting and annoying not to mention useless - at least to me. Any way to get rid of it?
