Unable to fix tvOS 26 video playback issues on Apple TV

Try changing the Chroma to 4:2:2, in video and audio settings > chroma

i too faced the same issue and tried this today

I have a same problem and "Skenzer" i make full factory reset and it didn't help... My problem is shortly: Streaming fails on all apps (Yle Areena, HBO, AppleTV+, Amazon Prime, etc.) after device wakes from deep sleep. Only a full system Reboot helps. Force-quitting the apps does not help. Issue started after tvOS 26 update on Apple TV 4K (Gen 3). Croma chance not help me, but unplugging the HDMI cable and plugging it back solve problem shortly. I thing no help before Apple release next update tvOS 26.

Thanks for the tip. I will give that a go and report back. Normally I would restart the device but I figured out yesterday that simply unplugging the HDMI cable and plugging it back in got the videos to play. A little better than having to do a full power cycle.

Same issue here. I have the latest 4K model. After I put the device to sleep and wake it up playback often times does not work for any app. I either have to do a full restart or go through the sleep wake process again.

Same. If I leave the tv and come back an hour or so later no video will play in any app. Just spins trying to load. Reboot solves the problem temporarily.

the chroma change didn't work for me. I also called support. They told me it's a known issue. They also said there it is not possible to revert to the old OS. I have to wait for the fix.

I have an open support ticket with Apple regarding this issue. I’ve been documenting the date and time this happens. If the chroma fix doesn’t work I’m going to try a full device reset.
