Keyboard doesn’t work in tahoe

Now that I’ve upgraded to Tahoe my iMac doesn’t register when I type my password. I don’t have another keyboard to try, and I don’t know how to get in and disable FileVault. Bus I just have a lightening bolt and electric symbol on the screen. Rebooting doesn’t help

Maybe take a picture of the screen and post that? What you describe (lightening bolt and electric symbol) sounds like the Mac needs charging, but you see that on a notebook Mac not on an iMac.

Are you perhaps seeing the Thunderbolt and USB symbol?

That indicates you've put your Mac in Target Disk Mode, presumably unintentionally.

If so, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, release it and wait a moment, then press any key.

After installing the new macOS Tahoe update on my M1 Mac, I started experiencing issues with the built-in keyboard. Some keys are glitching, repeating, or not responding properly. Interestingly, external keyboards work perfectly fine, which suggests the problem is with the internal keyboard driver or software, not the hardware itself.

It seems like the new update’s keyboard framework (InputKit) is causing conflicts on M1 Macs. Waiting for a software patch or considering a downgrade might be necessary to fix this issue.
