No more status bar in playlists in Apple Music on my Mac running macOS 26

View > Show Status Bar should restore it. But you have to do this for each individual playlist.

I found the solution. So view/show status bar actually works but it works in Playlist mode not in Song mode. And it's displayed not at the bottom but at the top (see image). You won't see it initially until you scroll up and head the huge unnecessary header. It will appear automatically and work just like the status bar from old iTunes.

I just upgraded to Tahoe, and yes it seems they have changed the whole Status Bar behavior. As far as I can tell:

• There is no status bar for a playlist in Songs view. The commands Show Status Bar and Hide Status Bar are still present, but have no effect that I can see.
• In Playlist view, there is a status bar but it is only visible if you scroll to the bottom of the playlist.

Inconvenient behavior, I would say, but that is evidently the new design.

When you put the app in full screen mode, show status bar will work. After that, it'll also work in other screen modes.

After update to 26.1, info is available in all playlists by scrolling down about 1 inch from top. Apple should reserve enough of the top margin to eliminate the scroll requirement.

It only works if you are viewing your entire list of songs. If you are viewing a playlist, the status bar does not appear. The playlist art is covering the space where the new style status bar would be.

Show/hide status bar doesn't appear to do *anything* for playlists. I display playlists as songs and there's never a bar there whether it's toggled on or off. This is a glaring omission for anyone who is used to selecting chunks of songs to see duration while editing a playlist. Surely this is unintentional... anyone creating a playlist with a length requirement needs to see the duration of selected tracks.

I've been seeking a solution to this as well, and I've found a workaround: Within a playlist, choose "View > as Playlist". With this setting engaged the status bar for that playlist is displayed at the top of the screen (although only after scrolling down somewhat through the playlist), and also allows for the status bar to reflect the length of highlighted songs, a feature I like to utilize.

That doesn't work for me. I have my playlists set to "View Songs", if that matters. When I show and hide the status bar, nothing happens.

If I choose Songs under Library, then I can see the counts and time in the upper-left, but nothing appears there when selecting a playlist.

Yes, I have all my playlists in "song view," too. But in Library>Songs, I don't even see the counts and time in the upper-left. I'm wondering whether there something else I need to unhide or add, but I can't figure it out.

Unfortunately, this only shows a rounded number of the overall length, not the exact length. Secondly, there is no ability to select a specific series of tracks to come up with a total for just those. It's better than not having a clue at all, but certainly still not usable, or anything like it was before this horrific mess-up by Apple. It seems like somebody's cute idea of minimalism over functionality.

Found another bug in Apple Music on desktop for Mac. Many of the songs might have been deleted from the Library (either during the update or for some other reason). The problem is that it appears as normal in the playlist and is listed as part of the playlist, but when playing the playlist, the song gets skipped since it does not exist. I had to download the song again, put it back in the library, and then it would play from the playlist.

Now I click every song in the playlist to make sure every song plays. If it does not play when you click it, it will be skipped.

This is not a workaround for the entire library, which I need in order to make sure entire library's have been transferred properly without any missing data. You can see this in playlists, yeah, but not in the entire library (when viewing entire library as songs, albums, or artists, or whatever)

This is not a solution for showing the data that used to appear which I used to calculate the length of my radio program based on the cumulative length of tracks. It's unthinkable to me that Apple would just screw this up so badly. Guys I make my living using this program. Please put it back like it was.

Helpful! but not the solution. I appreciate the workaround, but I need to see the results in the full library, not playlists. Also, we shouldn't be doing workarounds. Also, look at the bottom of this screen, it just looks....bad with all that empty space overlapping tracks in songs mode. Also, if the view/show status bar button isn't working at all while in songs mode (which it literally does nothing when in songs mode), then that's an actual bug that needs remedied for that edge case.

Workarounds are great! I appreciate you for the help. But Apple needs to hear that there's still no solution.
