Сan't close tabs in Safari

After yesterday's update of Safari to version 26.0 (20622.1.22.118.2) and MacOS to version 15.7 (24G222), tabs in Safari stopped closing via the Trackpad. Also, the text or address input panel does not work when clicking on the tab itself. Tell me what to do?

Once Apple closed its business operations in Russia, that probably also included service and support for new and existing Mac customers living in Russia. That is not disrespect, but a business reality. If Apple Support refused to help you, they may be following current internal protocol based on the first sentence.

There are no Apple employees participating in these U.S. hosted Apple communities, as we are fellow international users who volunteer our time here. We certainly cannot speak for Apple.

The tabs on Safari 26 are quite elongated now and the close (x) indicator remains on the left end of the tab. I don't use a trackpad on Tahoe, but it would seem to be a simple point and single tap to close the tab. If I open a new tab in Safari 26, the address input field is still active. It is not active if I open an arbitrary website in a new tab.
