Wired Switch Pro controllers (including GameSir X5 Lite) don’t work correctly in the new Games app on iOS 26

When using a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller in wired USB-C mode, or third-party controllers that emulate it (e.g. GameSir X5 Lite), the new iOS 26 Games app does not respond correctly.

L1/R1 buttons work, but the D-Pad and analog sticks do not function in the Games app UI. In games themselves, the controller works normally.

This suggests the issue is specific to the Games app UI and how iOS handles wired Switch Pro controllers.

Xbox and PlayStation controllers work fine in both wired and Bluetooth modes, and the Switch Pro Controller works fine in Bluetooth. The issue only affects wired Switch Pro controllers.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Connect a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (or GameSir X5 Lite in wired USB-C mode) to an iPhone running iOS 26.
  • Press the Home button to launch the Games app.
  • Try navigating the Games app with the D-Pad or analog sticks.

Expected result:

  • The D-Pad and analog sticks should navigate the Games app interface, same as with Xbox or PlayStation controllers.

Actual result:

  • Only the L/R buttons respond. D-Pad and analog sticks do not work at all in the Games app UI.

So now I’m wondering: is this an iOS issue (Apple needs to add proper support for wired Switch Pro controllers in the Games app) ?
