After installing tvOS 26, my audio setup stopped working

After installing tvOS 26, my audio setup stopped working. The Apple TV no longer recognizes the HomePod, and the TV volume is instantly reduced. I’ve already tried multiple restarts, running the HDMI connection repair wizard, and testing all possible setting combinations (eARC enabled/disabled) but nothing has resolved the issue.

For the HomePods:

  • please try restarting the HomePods as well.
  • install the software update to OS26 on HomePod(s)
  • Then you might try signing out of your account on Apple TV: In Settings - Profiles and Accounts- Default Profile (Your name) - Scroll down to Remove Profile. Restart Apple TV then sign in again and set up HomeKit . You might need your iPhone to help with set up. Please update your iPhone to its latest software to facilitate this. This should reset HomeKit & AirPlay on your Apple TV
  • Other troubleshooting steps would be to check your internet connection and reboot the wifi modem (if using)
