Since upgrading to iPadOS 26, getting “x would allow to paste from y” for every copy/paste on iPad

Since I upgraded my iPad from iPadOS 18.6.1 to iPadOS 26 today, I am getting the “x would allow to paste from y” prompt every single time I copy from one app to another. It happens every single time. Safari to notes, notes to safari, photos to safari, anything to notes.

How can I fix this? It’s maddening.

I discovered that I’m only getting the pop ups if I paste using the keyboard icon. If I tap and choose paste or use the 3 finger spread gesture I don’t get the pop ups. That’s even odder as it means it’s some kind of keyboard bug.  That also explains why I don’t have this problem on my iPhone since it doesn’t have that icon. I use that icon all the time on my iPad which explains why I see this problem constantly.

The issue is I’m being prompted for pasting anywhere not just apps. For example if I paste into Spotlight search I get the prompt every time. Even for places that are apps like Notes and Safari there is no “paste from other apps” setting for those. Basically unless I’m copying and pasting within the same app I get the prompt every single time I paste.

I didn’t see this on my iPhone, so I tried restoring my iPad and setting it up as new without logging into iCloud and I reproduced the issue immediately. I also dragged out an old 2018 iPad Pro and updated it to iPadOS 26 and saw the problem there as well.

It appears to be a really annoying bug. I guess I’m going to have to reach out to Apple support and have them ignore me like they always do.
