Auto Picture in Picture Not Working

Updated my iPad 10th gen to iPadOS 26 & everything seems fine except auto Picture in Picture for video apps seems to not work at all but it is enabled in settings (both in iPadOS & for the specific apps). I did update through the latest iTunes version on Windows 10.

Anyone else running into this issue? I use the feature a LOT. Anyone able to repeat this issue?

iOS 26 on my 15 Pro works fine with Auto PiP so am I missing something?

Paramount+ has an option to put the video in PiP manually & that works but the old “swipe up & the video auto goes PiP” just closes out the app. “Start PiP automatically” is turned on in the settings on iOS 26. I’ve tried turning that off & on & rebooting the iPad. Nothing fixes it.

Apple TV app behaves the same way the Paramount+ app does. Swiping up does not auto put the video into PiP but choosing the PiP option at the top of the video will put it in PiP mode & then I can swipe out of it & the video continues to play. If I don’t manually choose the option, swipe up just closes the app when I go back to the Home Screen.

Auto PiP has to be completely borked as it also fails in Teams. Meetings will not disconnect, thankfully, but the content being shared that used to automatically go into Picture in Picture now must be manually put into PiP mode before exiting Teams to go into another app. If the iPad app doesn’t have a way to manually put a video into PiP mode, then it will just close it. YouTube doesn’t have the option so it just closes.
