Simply no.

Older iPhones’ battery consumption was going to increase.  Therefore, staying in iOS 17 or 18 would be the better option to maximise battery life. 

Fast answer? No.

Simple answer: not yet.

Nuanced answer: if you need your iPhone 12 and your important apps to work and work reliably, wait until the related iOS and app updates are available. Or update your “spare” iPhone or iPad, and check directly.

If you need an answer FAST … then “no”

Presumably you don’t want your phone — or any of your essential apps — to be impacted by any new iOS “growing pains” which might be revealed in the coming days.

But if you’re OK w/ some possible growing pains, go for it.

In the case of the Reddit app, if the app is not functioning on iOS 26, then use the website pending an app update, app retirement, or whatever resolution Reddit might decide.

Being among the first to install a major new iOS version is a choice. Waiting for others to install and to encounter and report bugs and then obtain fixes, and to document changes and workarounds, is a choice, too. Tolerances for risk and expectations of stability and predictably vary.
