Currently running iOS 18.6.2.
In Settings/General/Software Updates I’m only seeing iOS 18.7 and not iOS 26.
Restarted iPhone, same issue.
Toggled Airplane Mode, same issue.
Turned off WiFi to 5G, same issue.
Turned back on WiFi, same issue.
Turned off VPN, same issue.
95 GB available space.
Stable WiFi.

I updated to iOS 18.7 as prompted. Then I was able to start the iOS 26 download.

I updated to iOS 18.7 as prompted. Then I was able to start the iOS 26 download.
You may have to wait a while. Apple rolls out the updates in staggered amounts to keep the servers from being overloaded. Check back throughout the day.
Many millions of people are trying to update to iOS 26. It's going to take some time.
Yes, I believe the servers to be overloaded right now, as I am located in the San Francisco Bay Area about 50 miles north of Cupertino.
I’ll check back periodically and may wait until tonight.
Definitely it’s taking 5 days to download the update here 🤣

That did the trick!
Just speculating, but maybe Apple Engineering wanted the iOS 18.7 update’s Security Patches and Bug Fixes in place prior to iOS 26 upgrade on some models.
