What do you mean by "similar?" Do you mean the same image but at a different resolutions or different filenames? Or do you mean like two pictures taken a second apart?
Photos works for the first kind. The trusted 3rd party app PowerPhotos ($40) has more controllable options. PhotoSweeper ($15) doesn't do the wide variety of things that PowerPhotos does, but works for duplicates.
On the other hand, pictures that are different but look similar to you is not something that you'd want to do automatically. So you would need to use the Select function and go through and tap on the ones you think are similar, and then trash them.
