Printing with an HP LaserJet model that does not support AirPrint (from MacBook Pro Sequoia 15.6.1)

The printer at my work place is an HP LaserJet model (HP LaserJet Professional M1213nf MFP) that apparently does not support AirPrint, so printing via USB was suggested to me. This however did not work: I could add the printer and the print job even showed up, but no printing happens. I also tried out different driver options in the use dropdown menu when adding the printer. I also tried resetting the printing system. I checked hp's website for driver software but for that printer model none was available for Mac. Apple's hp printer driver software is only compatible with older operating systems. So far nothing has worked. Has anyone encountered similar issues? I am amazed by how complicated this appears to be.

That’s a decade-old printer, and seemingly has just enough to minimally support for Windows. That thing is unusually limited, even for a usually-limited HP printer. No IPP/IPPS support, as far as I can tell.

No AirPrint and no IPP/IPPS puts it below what I’d recommend.

The wireless version of that printer does optionally offer AirPrint, per the manual. Does that printer have the wireless button as shown at ⓰? If so, you might have options.

If not, you’ll probably need to set up a pass-through print server on some spare PC, and use that.
