AirPods 3 won’t reset to factory settings and charging case drains quickly
Hi everyone, I’m having some serious issues with my AirPods 3.
I tried to reset them to factory settings: I removed them from the Bluetooth list on my iPhone, opened the case, and held the setup button. According to the instructions, after the amber light I should see a white flashing light. But on mine, the white never appears. It just keeps blinking amber and never goes into pairing mode. Because of that, my iPhone doesn’t detect them and won’t prompt me to connect.
There are also weird problems with charging:
- While charging overnight, I never see the green light, only amber.
- After a full night on the charger, the case LED lights up when I open it, but the charge drains very fast.
- If I leave the case off the charger for a day, it’s completely dead — no light at all when I open it.
So basically, I can’t reset them properly, the case doesn’t seem to hold charge, and the AirPods can’t be paired as new. The earbuds themselves do work when there’s power, but the case seems unreliable.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Does this sound like a dead charging case that needs replacement, or could it be some kind of software glitch? Should I take it to a repair shop, or is it better to just look for a new case?
