iPhone 16 not connecting for data transfer after Ventura 13.8.7 update on iMac

I just updated my Ventura 13.8.7 on my iMac and now when I plug in my iPhone 16 it goes right to charging not allowing me to download or backup on my computer. I’ve tried other cords.ive tried resetting the phone privacy. My older iMac does not have a privacy reset. Any ideas??

I don't understand what "goes right to charging" means.

When you connect your iPhone to your Mac, one of the things that are expected is for it to charge; but that should have nothing to do with other features.

Open a new Finder window (Command-N); - do you not see your iPhone under "Locations" in the Sidebar?

If you click it, do you not see all the options to manage your iPhone?
