Apple Passwords app displaying new passwords in iPhone notifications

When I updated a password on a website login the Apple Passwords app sent a notification to my lock screen with the new password. I turned off notifications from the app but am confused that it actually showed the new password in the notification. Should this app do this or is there a setting that I have wrong?
