Black wallpaper and laggy desktop window on MacBook with all aerials shuffle setting

I have my wallpaper set to all aerials that shuffles every 12 hours. The wallpaper sometimes turns completely black (also on the lock screen). The black screen goes away if I change the shuffle time or select another collection but returns if I go back to my original setting. The only way I found to solve it is by restarting my mac. I also noticed the Desktop window is laggy when switching between windows during this black screen.

I have been using the same setting since I bought my mac about 1 year ago. This issue first appeared about 2 weeks ago and it happened thrice so far.

Edit: Logging out also fixed the issue
