Slides and PDFs lagging in Books app on new iPad

I downloaded slides and pdfs to the book app so I can write on them most of the time it’s fine but out of nowhere it lags and won’t let me write i’m just wondering, should I be concerned because I just bought this iPad and also if you have a solution for this, please help
