@muguy is correct regarding the battery being permanently damaged.....I seriously doubt it will even take a charge, but if the battery does charge I would also add that it is very likely the battery could swell once you start to use the laptop assuming the battery will take any charge. If you notice the Trackpad pushing up above the Palmrest, the Display lid not closing properly, or the laptop is no longer sitting firmly on a flat surface, then it likely means the battery is swelling.
I know the batteries for the M-series Macs 2020+ tend to go into a permanently failed state to prevent charging. For the older Intel Macs (up to 2020 as well), the battery may take a charge even after four years.
With any Apple USB-C laptop.....if the battery has a problem, then the laptop may not even power on, or you may find the laptop performing extremely slow such as taking hours to boot macOS to a login screen.
