MacBook Pro 2018 15" Slow

My macbook is really slow this week. I used DiskUtility. I did the things an amateur does. I am attaching a report that looks like I am using all of my storage. Is it time to go to the Apple Store? Can they help me?

It does appear that your internal storage is full, and that's not a good thing. You can certainly visit an Apple Store, but the first step is to delete some files from your Mac. If you have not done so, empty the Trash. If you have larger files (videos, etc.), copy them to an external drive then delete them (and empty the Trash). If you have sufficient iCloud Storage, consider enabling Store in iCloud (System Settings > General > Storage).

Just be aware that your 2018 MacBook Pro will not be able to run macOS 26 Tahoe, which will be the current version of macOS starting on Monday, 9/15. You have time, but it's finite. Many software platforms (e.g. MS365) support only the three most recent major versions of macOS. Since Apple is on an annual release cycle, that means you may run into update issues when some applications stop supporting macOS 15 Sequoia beginning in the fall of 2027.

A bit sad, because from a hardware standpoint I've had Macs last longer than that – my 2006 17" MBP booted just fine before I recycled it in 2020, and my son was using my mid-2010 17" MBP until 2023.

You are viewing the information for the physical drive ("disk0" is the physical drive). Of course it will show the Used space as the size of the physical drive.

Just select the "Data" volume on the left pane of Disk Utility and look at the "Free" storage space value on the right side. Assuming you haven't created any other partitions on the boot drive, then this value will be what you want.
