Copying a whole device and its packaging and electronics is harder than making a thousand copies a few valid serial numbers, then getting a few more valid numbers, and printing another thousand copies. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Serial numbers are useful for warranty coverage when the device is in hand, but are approximately useless for detecting counterfeits.
They took the serial number from a legit pair of AirPods. Doesn’t mean he can get anywhere with Apple with these fake Airpods.
