  • Deleting (using the Delete key) in an Album removes the picture from the album, but it remains in the Library and in other albums.
  • Deleting (using the Delete key) in the Library generates a warning, and if you agree, it removes the picture from the Library of all pictures and from all albums, and it is transferred to Recently Deleted for 30 days.
  • Command-Deleting (using the Command+Delete keys, ⌘-delete) Anywhere removes, with no warning, the picture from the Library of all pictures and from all albums, and it is transferred to Recently Deleted for 30 days.

A picture is removed early from Recently Deleted only by using Delete within the Recently Deleted view and clicking the warning "Delete from All Devices."

You have to really, really want to delete that picture. Deleting a picture from Recently Deleted is forever. The best advice is to wait the 30 days -- we see way too many people here who regret having permanently deleted pictures!
