Moving iTunes/Apple Music library from old iTunes folder structure to new Apple Music folder structure with Sequoia

Hi all,

I bought a new laptop, a MacBook Air M4 running Sequoia, and I'm trying to move over my music library from my old 2014 MacBook Pro, which is running Big Sur.

My old MacBook started out using iTunes and was then 'auto-transitioned' to Apple Music. From what I have gathered so far, my old laptop seems therefore to still be using the old iTunes folder structure, not the new Apple Music folder structure.

I would now like to move over my music including covers, playcounts, playlists, etc., ideally then using the new folder structure, so that it's all in good shape.

How do I do this best?

Should I somehow change the folder structure on the old computer first? Or move it over first? Or...?

Thank you very much for any guidance on this!

Best wishes,

Wolfgang
