Magic Mouse (USB-C) not charging with 20W/30W Apple adapters – only charges via MacBook
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased the new Apple Magic Mouse (USB-C). The mouse itself works perfectly, but I’m facing an issue with charging.
- The mouse does not charge when I connect it to my iPhone 20W power adapter or my MacBook 30W adapter using official Apple cables (including the cable that came with the mouse).
- However, when I connect the same cable to my MacBook’s USB-C port, the mouse charges without any problem.
- I’ve tested multiple cables (iPhone cable, Magic Mouse cable, etc.), and the result is always the same.
- Everything else about the mouse works fine.
I also noticed that on the mouse box, there’s a small adapter icon that says “2.5 to 7.5W.” Does this mean the Magic Mouse cannot charge from higher-wattage adapters (like 20W or 30W), and that it can only be charged directly from a Mac or a lower-power source?
I already spoke with Apple Support and even visited an Apple Store, but they couldn’t give me a clear answer. They only suggested I can claim warranty if needed. Interestingly, I also noticed that Magic Mouse boxes don’t seem to have unique serial numbers – every box I checked in-store had the same number including my one.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal behavior that the Magic Mouse (USB-C) only charges when connected to a Mac, and not with Apple’s standard USB-C power adapters?
Thanks in advance for your help!
