Recovering data after accidentally erasing a 2017 MacBook Pro

I got a new MacBook today, and I was trying to reset my MacBook Pro (2017 model). I followed google directions because the erase all content setting isn't supported. ANNNND I have a guy buying it tomorrow evening (4:30-5) BUT, it is completely wiped, I mean back to like early days of apple MacBook. no updates, squared off apps, I just wanted my information removed off the laptop and noooowwww I'm in a pickle, PLEASE HELP!

Step 6. Erase your Mac AND reinstall macOS

What this will install will be something like the "shipped in the box" version, that does NOT require your Apple-ID, but uses the Mac serial number instead.

To test, fire it up. It should say hello in 20 languages and start in the Setup Assistant. Specify the language, but DO NOT proceed to set it up. Then QUIT and it should shut down again, ready to go.

If you followed the correct instructions, the Recovery OS would have installed the version of macOS that was on the Mac when you bought it. It should boot to the setup assistant. That’s fine, as the buyer can update macOS when the Mac is being set up.

You’re not in a pickle as you’ve done exactly what you should be doing if you’re giving away or selling your MacBook. I too would also endorse muguy’s advice by clicking on the link he’s provided. Good luck and I hope the sale goes well.
