Apple Music is skipping multiple songs on MacBook Air

hi!!! wondering if anyone else is having this issue. when i play a song from the top of a playlist, apple music randomly skips down 2 or more songs instead of just playing the next one. i’ve already tried updating my mac, signing out and back in, and closing/reopening the app, but nothing has fixed it. is this a bug or does anyone know a way to fix it?
